Let Go! Float Cloud 9

Sensory Deprivation… Why in the world would I want that? I’ll tell you!

  • To release tension
  • to experience ultimate relaxation
  • to detox negative or unaligned energies
  • and … to think.

I mean really think. Think or meditate in a way that you may try to think or meditate when you’re at home, but your dog sits down next to you and licks your face and your cat believes the lotus position is actually you sitting silently after moving your body into a new chair just for her and falls asleep in your lap. This is not you-and-your-familiars meditation time.

floating

The tank was very similar to this. PS… That is not me :)

The float tank experience is described by Cloud nine Float Center in Boulder as “Relaxing in outer space.”

Since the temperature is the same as your skin temp (93.5 degrees), it feels perfectly luke-warmish—Like bath water when you get in, but soon it morphs into seriously feeling like nothing! It does feel like you’re hanging in space. None of your muscles have to engage at all, so you really are just floating there… (800ish lbs of salt is keeping you afloat… You couldn’t sink if you tried.)

No waves, no movement, no sound (If you choose) and no light (also optional), and you’re in a space that I can honestly say is so private and peaceful…

I must mention that I feel you have to be brave.

You have to be able to handle that much alone time with just you—processing thoughts, brainstorming, releasing, forgiving, listening to your higher self, or simply in quiet meditation at monumental levels by floating, motionless with yourself for 60-90 minutes.

I opted for 90 minutes my first experience. I thought I’d experiment a bit with sound and floaties (a floating neck pillow and “under-the-knees” noodle). I found that I did like the neck pillow because, believe it or not, I had a hard time relaxing completely. My neck and shoulders wanted to hold me up—I guess they didn’t believe they would float…

Yes, I need to practice relaxing..

So the pillow helped, I didn’t need the noodle—I asked for the music to fade out after fifteen minutes and then come back on just before the session was over. I realized at the end that I enjoyed the really relaxing angel-y music and I was actually more comfortable with the very dim light inside the tank on.

So apparently, or so far anyway, complete perceptual isolation is not for me just yet. I did have some racing thoughts that consisted of me scream thinking to myself, “Relax! Relax! Move your shoulders down away from your ears! Stop breathing so hard, for god sakes stop thinking so much!”

I gave myself some Reiki and it got quieter eventually :)

Cloud nine is awesome.

I feel it is a tranquil and safe environment, everything you need is there—towels, robes, tea, shower, etc. It has a Spa feel.

When I go again I’ll definitely go in the evening as I did the first time. I have to say, it was an amazing night of sleep I had after floating. I believe this can be a very effective part of meditation practice and relaxing in water is the best thing in the world.

Happy Floating!

PPS: I forgot to wear the earplugs. I would definitely suggest wearing them!

November 2012 Goddess Reiki Share at the Ranch

Acres of Opportunity, Lafayette, Colorado 80026

I love the new venue! It really is a great space—in town, but feels like in a faerie field all its own. Tonight we celebrated our friends and family for the Thanksgiving holiday, created sacred space, and even did some attunements! Our distance Reiki list for the Reiki grid was full of those who requested reiki for their friends, pets, and family members.

Angels and Guides

st. francis padmesThis eve we called in St. Francis to be with us and our animals as well. As it turns out, St. Francis was all about bringing his troops! Lots of activity at the Ranch! Spirit animals abound ;)

St. Francis of Assisi was a healer and Friar in Italy. He is the first known saint who experienced the stigmata and is known as the patron saint of animals and the environment.

Thank you for your participation and sharing.

I am grateful for this share and all who give their time to heal themselves, others, animals, and the planet. Lightworkers are special people and the world needs you!

Though the holidays are afoot, We will be sharing at the Goddess Reiki Circle on December 29th! At the Ranch. Happy Yuletide and looking forward to seeing everyone! Bring your stories, lists, crystals, and anything that needs Loving Reiki Healing.

December Topic: Symbols and their importance, experiences with symbols, and how to create sacred space.

Everyone has their own techniques that work for them when it comes to giving a Reiki treatment, creating sacred space, and how they choose to practice Reiki healing. We’ll share these techniques and compatible modalities. After all… Reiki is the Gateway Modality!

If you would like to join us, please RSVP at the Pura Vida Meetup page.

Namaste,

Meg

Mercury Retrograde is the Tower…

Mercury Retrograde started this month on the 6th.

I always begin to hear stories of the past somehow catching up, someone’s computer going crazy, car troubles, and arguments just a few days before the actual event. Tower Card-Magical Forest Tarot

Mercury Retrograde happens about four times a year. During Mercury’s retrograde phase you can look through a telescope and see Mercury moving backwards… It’s an optical illusion, but none-the-less, these times affect all of us on Earth… Some more than others.

As the Communication planet, Mercury asks us to take another look at things lost, things given up, things let go, things that we tried to block! Old lessons that we thought we’d learned, pop back up for review.

This may seem daunting, but there are gifts that can come from this madness. Of course slowing down is one of the messages… It does seem to me that the Universe uses these times as a get-out-of-jail free card… Strings attached.

When the tower card enters the room, everyone gets still and holds their breath. But ultimately, it’s the Universe saying, “Hey! You haven’t left this situation yet and it looks like you never will, so I’m going to help you out! You’re Welcome!”

Sometimes what seem to be upsetting changes end up being the best thing you could have ever had happen.

Even if sadness, betrayal, and bewilderment are the first things that come up… The Universe may have something else in mind for you. Your foundation being rocked ultimately can pull the best out of you that would have never had the chance to make an appearance. You start something over or let it go to move on to the next thing—all along the way creating a more complete you.

Not all Mercury Retrogrades, however, are devastating by any means.

These periods in time are really perfect for brainstorming, planning, resolving, and meditating—getting in touch with those parts of your mind and energy that you’ve pushed to the back a bit. Dreams are significant, Readings are powerful, releasing blocked, stuck, and old emotional energy with Reiki is extremely effective during this time, and writing down your thoughts and feelings will bring positive changes when you look back at them.

Planning is a good idea during Mercury’s illusion, but signing contracts, having dental work or surgeries, setting things in stone… Those are exactly the kind of things that will come back to haunt you next time around.

Mercury goes direct November 26th. The “Shadow” is supposed to last for another week. I usually feel that once Direct, it’s Direct, but it does affect some people, so to be safe, stay on the planning and brainstorming side of things until December.

If you have stories or experiences during Mercury’s “backin-it-up” phase I’d love to hear about them! Especially since so many of us will be spending Turkey Day with Family!

Comment away :)

Padmes Reiki Readings

padmesI had the most amazing people come to me for readings today. I was so inspired by my community and humanity. Even though these amazing people had triumphs, suffered from grief and loss, were at odds with spirituality, and were conflicted about moving forward emotionally, all of them were trying to “be better” for loved ones. They were offering and asking for love. I am honored by all who shared with me today.

Thank you Thank you Thank you.

September’s Reiki Share was Lovely!

“OOh La La” and Tasers…

Goddess Reiki SharesThe full moon was amazing and, as always, the group is wonderful. We touched on a topic that is not often talked about in the share because everyone comes with the greatest of healing intentions—But what if you experience, as a practitioner or as a receiver of a Reiki treatment, something inappropriate, be it a comment, a look, or other. How do we react to these types of behaviors as Lightworkers?

The group had a lot to say. I was grateful that we could talk about this, even though it wasn’t so “Love & Light” of a topic. The consensus revolved around good boundaries, working in a place where you feel safe, and ending a session as soon as you feel uncomfortable. There was also mention of really looking at what is making you uncomfortable. Is it your sensitivity? Or have boundaries really been crossed?

Bottom line: It’s up to you to make sure you’re safe ! So whatever is going on, know that you are supported in this circle if you ever need to talk about an experience or ask a question that’s causing some inner conflict!

For the most part, though, everyone has lovely experiences and amazing clients. Reiki truly is a lifestyle. When you live Reiki you live with compassion, safe boundaries, and love.

Thank you all for a lovely evening! And I hope to see everyone who couldn’t make it next time!
In Love,
Meg
