August Card of the Month —The Empress

TheEmpressThe Empress shows us this month will be fruitful and from that abundance, even more is accumulating in your energetic field ready to appear physically. This harvest will be the foundation for future growth.

Cultivate and tend to your Soul’s favorite projects. Nurturing those gems will foster their expansion.

The Empress encourages you to focus on healing. Go outside, get good rest, eat fruits and vegetables and drink filtered water! The body wants to heal itself (it naturally strives to survive and create). Help it heal by giving it good things, feeding it positive thoughts, and filling it with Reiki Light.

Our Relationships this month are refreshed with the great nurturing that the Empress brings. You become what you surround yourself with, so make it beautiful!

This could be a wonderful vacation month for you, or the beginning of planning and manifesting that trip to Maui you’ve been dreaming about.

Turn to nature this month and resurrect your inner Empress. Plant in your garden or bring in some new house plants. Be available for others this month. Be part of party planning / group gathering for a long-term teamwork project or share.

This is a good month to go to the Spa, or on a hike, or to a Reiki share with good friends and relax together. Talk about what you’ve accomplished and what you would like to continue manifesting.

Creation of safety and comfort by using your creativity to build and express your love and gratitude. Write! Develop! Produce! More creates more this month! Giving birth to your dreams is what the Empress encourages and inspires. Abundance creates abundance!

Mercury Retrograde is the Tower…

Mercury Retrograde started this month on the 6th.

I always begin to hear stories of the past somehow catching up, someone’s computer going crazy, car troubles, and arguments just a few days before the actual event. Tower Card-Magical Forest Tarot

Mercury Retrograde happens about four times a year. During Mercury’s retrograde phase you can look through a telescope and see Mercury moving backwards… It’s an optical illusion, but none-the-less, these times affect all of us on Earth… Some more than others.

As the Communication planet, Mercury asks us to take another look at things lost, things given up, things let go, things that we tried to block! Old lessons that we thought we’d learned, pop back up for review.

This may seem daunting, but there are gifts that can come from this madness. Of course slowing down is one of the messages… It does seem to me that the Universe uses these times as a get-out-of-jail free card… Strings attached.

When the tower card enters the room, everyone gets still and holds their breath. But ultimately, it’s the Universe saying, “Hey! You haven’t left this situation yet and it looks like you never will, so I’m going to help you out! You’re Welcome!”

Sometimes what seem to be upsetting changes end up being the best thing you could have ever had happen.

Even if sadness, betrayal, and bewilderment are the first things that come up… The Universe may have something else in mind for you. Your foundation being rocked ultimately can pull the best out of you that would have never had the chance to make an appearance. You start something over or let it go to move on to the next thing—all along the way creating a more complete you.

Not all Mercury Retrogrades, however, are devastating by any means.

These periods in time are really perfect for brainstorming, planning, resolving, and meditating—getting in touch with those parts of your mind and energy that you’ve pushed to the back a bit. Dreams are significant, Readings are powerful, releasing blocked, stuck, and old emotional energy with Reiki is extremely effective during this time, and writing down your thoughts and feelings will bring positive changes when you look back at them.

Planning is a good idea during Mercury’s illusion, but signing contracts, having dental work or surgeries, setting things in stone… Those are exactly the kind of things that will come back to haunt you next time around.

Mercury goes direct November 26th. The “Shadow” is supposed to last for another week. I usually feel that once Direct, it’s Direct, but it does affect some people, so to be safe, stay on the planning and brainstorming side of things until December.

If you have stories or experiences during Mercury’s “backin-it-up” phase I’d love to hear about them! Especially since so many of us will be spending Turkey Day with Family!

In Love,

Meg

The Hierophant

Up:
Ah, the Hierophant. Unless he’s up-side-down, he can make me feel a little trapped. And that’s because he represents those who (or situations that) revolve around organized religion and the need to be accepted in religious circles with similar belief-minded people. It can sometimes indicate that someone is not thinking for themselves. He can show a very traditional mindset that is closed to interpretation. If paired with the Devil, the Hierophant can indicate mind control through doctrine.

In the same breath, he can represent a very traditional marriage, especially if paired with the 4 of Wands. The Hierophant can also show a corporate view of a situation or workplace because he follows the rules and law of business. Likewise, if the Hierophant is reversed, a laid back atmosphere can be inferred.

The Hierophant is a card of trust. It’s a card of genuine want to do right for the greater good. It’s just that in this day and age, some may require more freedom than he offers. If this card represents someone in the seeker’s life, he is a trustworthy person, who may have traditional views. If this card represents the seeker, it may be time to listen to different perspectives and think outside of the box/consider something that traditionally wasn’t the “way we do.” It may be time to change things up and get a different look at something that hasn’t worked for ages or needs to work better.

Straight up, the Hierophant can symbolize higher education, a graduation, or right of passage.

Reversed:
Flipped 180, the Hierophant relaxes into business casual. He’s open-minded and neutral about things he once was very concerned with. He lets things naturally play out instead of trying to control or judge them. The Hierophant reversed can also indicate non-traditional or alternative religions.

Timing

Timing in Tarot comes through by suits or Major Arcana for me.
Cups are days, Wands are weeks, Pentacles are months, and Swords can be days, weeks, or months. So if in the timing position of a spread or if asked directly the 3 of Cups, for instance, would be three days. the 6 of Wands would be six weeks, the 2 of Pentacles would be two months, and the 4 of Swords would indicate four days, weeks, or months.

If a Major Arcana card presents itself for time, it shows specific dates relating to astrological dates of the zodiac. So if I were projecting a time frame and the Chariot dropped out of the deck, I would see that the timing would fall between June 22 and July 23.

Emperor—Aries—March 21-April 20
The Hierophant—Taurus—April 21-May 21
The Lovers—Gemini—May 22-June 21
The Chariot—June 22-July 23
Strength—Leo—July 24-August 23
The Hermit—Virgo—August 24-September 23
Justice—Libra—September 24-October 23
Death—Scorpio—October 24-November 22
Temperance— Sagittarius—November 23-December 21
The Devil—Capricorn—December 22-January 20
The Star—Aquarius—January 21-February 19
The Moon—Pisces—February 20-March 20

The Fool

Happy April Fool’s Day!

The Fool Card is always a breath of fresh air. It’s a new way at looking at a situation. It represents letting guards down and trusting. Sometimes naively trusting, but walking into a new world with a feeling of no regrets.

Reversed, this card can resemble a gypsy-type wanderer, as the Fool can be a student of life, not making deep roots or emotional connections. He can represent foolishness and not doing his research before jumping in head first. But right-side-up it always reminds me of Indiana Jones. The very first movie: Raiders of the Lost Ark, when Indiana has to take that step of faith out into what seemed like a step into a never-ending quarry. What he found was that he was safe and supported by a bridge that was almost impossible to see…

Deciphering surrounding cards indicates what the Fool is trying to communicate. The Fool can represent renewed faith in self, an endeavor, life, or utter naivete! It can represent someone who is not committed just yet to anything but themselves.

I was going on Fool card energy when I moved to Colorado from Arizona. I took a chance and risked everything, but trusted that I was moving on to the next phase of my life. It was a new beginning. The Fool card doesn’t promise perfection—it promises that the Universe is supporting you. It can enhance beginners luck, or produce great lessons for the seeker to call upon in their future. Lessons they will never forget. It teaches the seeker to trust themselves. It’s the beginning of their journey.

When this card lands in a spread, it can be the seeker, a person in the seeker’s life, or advice to look at a situation in a new way. It can show a situation that needs a smudging and new fresh energy ushered in. What once worked as energy for the seeker may no longer be what will propel her forward now. It’s time to take a look at what once served a purpose, but no longer has the same effect, and figure out what will work now. This can be an epiphany card that shows the seeker’s new awareness of old and new energy and stepping forward from the past.
